Mango and papaya are two highly exotic, popular fruit. For both of them, it is important to pay attention to the quality. Mangoes and the like can be bought almost everywhere, but the majority are fruit which have been picked before they are ripe so they can ripen on the long sea voyage. If you are looking for a taste explosion, you need to go for fruit which has been flown in as these are picked ripe from the tree.

Step by step instructions

  1. Using the peeler, remove the skin from the melon by holding the fruit in one hand and drawing the peeler along the mango from top to bottom. Turn the fruit and peel until only the yellow flesh can be seen.
  2. Cut into the fruit along its entire width until about 1cm / 0.39inch from the stone. Then, turn the fruit and cut along the stone along the entire length until you have a chessboard pattern.
  3. Now, place the mango on a board with the scored side facing towards the front and cut the cubes out from the fruit.
