Apples and pearsVideo: 01:57
Description
Compare apples with apples, so the saying goes. However, an apple also has some similarities to a pear: Pips in its core, lightly coloured flesh and that they both oxidise when exposed to air. The latter can be prevented with lemon juice.
Step by step instructions
APPLE
- Use a peeler to remove the skin from the apple by starting at the top and drawing the peeler all the way down to the bottom of the apple.
- Then, halve and quarter the apple. Place the apple pieces cut side down on the board and cut out the core with a straight, single cut.
- Then, cut the apple slices to size as desired.
PEAR
- Use a peeler to remove the skin from the pear by starting at the top and drawing the peeler all the way to the bottom of the fruit.
- Then, halve the pear and cut out the core with a Parisian scoop. Also use the Parisian scoop to remove the stump at the bottom.
- Finally, remove the stalk by pulling it towards the cut face.
